What would you do as East with:
(Answer later)
Our team (Arjuna De Livera – Bruce Neill, George Gaspar – Bobby Richman, Bill haughie – your truly, Mike Prescott npc) did not start well in the Seniors Teams with an 8-22 loss to England. Then we defeated France 16-14, plus a 25-5 win in the last match of the day vs Singapore. That gave us 59 Victory Points for the day to be running sixth.
Australia Open Team: 4-25 vs Iceland, 18 VPs for a bye, and 13-17 vs Costa Rica. Total: 39 VPs and running 13th.
Australia Women’s Team: 25-2 vs Spain, 12-18 to Kenya and 24-6 vs England (an excellent result). 61 for the day, a great start, to be running second to Russia, who scored 75/75!

After the auction given earlier, I passed as East and we took 3

9, king;
A;
8 ruffed;
K; spade to ace; heart to queen and ruffed, E-W +100.
At the other table the English East bid 3
over 3
(well done!). West raised to 4
. After
A,
K, club ruffed with the
Q, over-ruffed, declarer ran the
10, drew the last trump and had ten tricks for +620. Two diamonds went on the second heart and the club winner and one was ruffed. 11 Imps to England.
