Back to today’s problem:

You do not have a great hand in high cards, but the club void might be a great asset. After 2 you could reasonably jump to 4 as a splinter. That should excite partner enough, as the full deal looked like this:

At our table East jumped to 4, all pass. North led the 2 and the 10 won. A diamond to the ace was followed by a spade to the ten, diamond ruff and a spade to the queen. After A and another diamond ruff, declarer had all the tricks for +510.

Open datum: E-W 490. All ten pairs played in 4. Five made 13 tricks.

Women’s datum: E-W 470. Nine pairs played in 4. One made 13 tricks. One N-S pair saved in 5 doubled for –800.

Seniors’ datum: E-W 450. Six pairs played in 4, one in 2. Two pairs made 13 tricks, including the pair in 2.
