What would you do now as South with:

(Solution later)

Our results yesterday were a bit better with three wins, 23-7, 17-13 and 25-4. That has pushed us into the top 20, which is where you need to be to qualify for the National Open Teams.

Back to today’s problem:
This was Board 7 from Round 4:

East-West can make 3NT or 4, but we were about to play in 1 when South backed into the auction. Protected by his initial two passes, Matt Mullamphy doubled for takeout as East and South was in trouble when West passed. North redoubled for rescue and South should have bid 2. That will hurt, but not as much as 2 redoubled, which became the contract and resulted in –1600.
