2009 Butler Trials Blog 1
Posted 03 July 2009 by Ron
Heading off to Canberra for the 2009 Butler Trials. Except in the Women’s, numbers this year are way down.
| 2008 | 2009 | |
| Open Trials | 64 pairs | 38 pairs |
| Women's Trials | 30 pairs | 37 pairs |
| Seniors | 38 pairs | 12 pairs |
Why this huge drop? Is it the financial climate? Or is Canberra way too cold in July? Or is there just too much bridge around? In the Open, none of the players from either Australian Open Team are competing. They have just been away for a fortnight in Macau.
Stage 1 starts at 7.30pm tonight and continues to Sunday afternoon.
